Dan Baird, Warner E. Hodges and Joe Blanton, collectively known as The Bluefields, released their much anticipated debut album Pure on May 15.

Comprised of rock veterans, Joe Blanton on lead vocals and guitar, Warner E. Hodges on lead guitar and vocals, Dan Baird on bass, guitars and vocals, and special guest, Steve Gorman, on drums, the self produced album is as the title suggests, pure rock.

With band members backgrounds boasting platinum record success, a Grammy nomination, An Americana Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award and song authorships that have become iconic rock standards, the album permeates  with songs confirming this pedigree.  The Bluefields debut delivers all the rootsy richness you would expect from these trailblazers from the south, while never losing sight of rock’s raunchier side. The songs travel seamlessly between the bone-jarring riffs of What You Won’t Do, the haunting atmospheres of Don’t Let Me Fall, the soulful pain of Belong  and the sheer “three chords and a cloud of dust” pleasure of Bad Old Days.

NASHVILLE-based rockers, The Bluefields will be plugging in to play up a stormer on their return to Stereo in Glasgow on July 18.

Veterans they may be but Warner E. Hodges on lead guitar and vocals (Jason & The Scorchers), Dan Baird on bass, guitars and vocals (Georgia Satellites), Brad Pemberton on drums (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals) and Joe Blanton on lead vocals and guitar (Royal Court of China) are rightly regarded as a supergroup in every sense of the word.

Band members boast platinum record sales’ success, a Grammy nomination, An Americana Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award and iconic rock standards.

Southern fried, raunchy and rootsy – as highlighted in their latest album “Under High Cotton” – The Bluefields’ tours are never less than blistering.
