The Late Great Townes Van Zandt Show has got the blessing of his family as Townes’ son, John has given permission for the title of the gig, which will be staged at Drygate on the 4th October.

The hugely talented Carrie Rodriguez, with current bilingual album, “Lola”, winning loud applause, is set for a return visit to Glasgow in November.

The singer and fiddle player will appear at The Admiral on Tuesday, November 15.

The latest offering from the Austin, Texas-based musician is an intriguing and delicate mixture of new and old songs, featuring songs written by some of Carrie’s favorite Mexican composers, as well as her own Ranchera-inspired original songs written in English, Spanish and “Spanglish.

Mike & Ruthy Set For Quick Return To Glasgow

After a sellout show at The Old Fruitmarket during Celtic Connections this year, The Mike & Ruthy Band make a speedy return to Glasgow. They play the CCA on Sunday 24th July. The band was singled out by Celtic Connections Festival’s artistic director, Donald Shaw as one of his Top Ten highlights of the 2016 event in an interview for BBC – and they went on to wow the crowd as predicted when they played Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket. Reviewers described the show as everything from “glorious, gleeful and exuberant,” to “excellent” and “absolutely terrific”.

Over the past 16 years, Laura Cantrell has been a familiar presence on the U.K. music scene. The Nashville-born, New York-based artist has developed a loyal audience through consistent touring, and numerous radio interviews and sessions for BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music, most notably with Bob Harris and the late John Peel, who famously championed her debut album, Not The Tremblin’ Kind, and described it as, “My favourite album of the last ten years and possibly my life”

Her new release, Laura Cantrell At The BBC compiles the best of her UK radio performances from 2000-2005, including several previously unreleased songs, and traces the arc of Cantrell’s rise as an Americana artist on the airwaves of the venerable British Broadcasting Corporation.

RICHMOND FONTAINE WEBHAYES CARLL (2)Next year is shaping up to be one of our busiest years yet,  if you pop over to the Gig Guide you will see lots of great shows now on sale.

We have waited a long time to bring the brilliant singer song writer Hayes Carll to Glasgow. Wishes do come true, The Hayes Carll Trio will play The CCA on Sunday 24th April. Please note this show will be a standing show. Tickets available here.

Richmond Fontaine play their first Glasgow show in several years at The Art School on Wednesday 27th April. The hugely influential band from Portland Oregon are led by singer, song writer and novelist Willy Vlautin. RF will be performing songs from their extensive back catalogue and from their new album, “You Can’t Go Back if There’s Nothing To Back To”. Tickets available here.

The legendary Dan Stuart from Green On Red will rock Stereo on Renfield Lane on Thursday 25th February. Dan will be performing new songs from his new album, “Marlowe’s Revenge”, plus some songs from his own back catalogue and from his Green On Red days.

Fallen Angels Club favourite Diana Jones returns in 2016 with a solo show in The CCA on Tuesday 12th April. Diana’s new album, “Museum of Appalachia Recordings” has been collecting fine reviews from various sources.

Well, that’s our gigs finished for another year, we finished the year off in fine style one of our favourite venues with Wreckless Eric on the 10th December.

Blue Rose Code- The Drygate

We were really delighted with the response and the feedback regarding The Drygate Brewing Company as a venue, this was a really special night and absolutely stunning performance from Ross Wilson and band aka Blue Rose Code.

Glasgow Americana

Well, have we all recovered from Glasgow Americana? Thanks to all who managed along, we hope you enjoyed the shows, there were indeed so many great moments.

Ags Connolly is a traditional country (or ‘Ameripolitan’) singer-songwriter from Oxfordshire. His debut album ‘How About Now’ was released on Drumfire Records in February 2014 to critical acclaim:

As a live performer, Ags has appeared at events such as the 2013 Country 2 Country Festival at the O2 Arena and the 2014 Southern Fried Festival in Perth. He has also opened for various international artists such as Jimmy LaFave and Fred Eaglesmith.

2013 Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, singer/songwriter, Annabelle Chvostek is heading for a gig at The Admiral in Glasgow on May 19, 2015.

She is gathering a lot of plaudits for writing protest songs for a new era of activism.

The versatile multi-instrumentalist Toronto-born performer, formerly of The Wailin’ Jennys, has released two solo albums.

Our shows for Kris Drever & Boo Hewerdine in Glasgow on the 24th April and Edinburgh on the 25th April are selling pretty fast, so best to run for your tickets as oppose to walking for them.

The highly-rated Sons of Bill make a welcome return visit for a show at Stereo on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

The three brothers at the core of the band hail from Charlottesville, Virginia – their dad is called, Bill, hence their name – are one of those bands that put the rock into country rock.

They have just released their second album, “Love and Logic”, which Rolling Stone magazine praised as “lush and beautiful…a classic roots rock album for the modern age.”

Last time at this venue, they had the place jumping with their potent mix of acoustic ballads and country-edge rockers.

The Marshals will be showcasing some songs from their forthcoming new album.

Irishman and Nashville resident, Ben Glover is always a welcome visitor to Scotland – and he is returning on a double bill with Angel Snow to Glasgow on Friday March 6, for a show at The Admiral in Waterloo Street.

His status is rising as his current album, “Atlantic” got a five-star review from Maverick Magazine while The Telegraph declared it to be among the best 23 albums of 2014.

He has toured and/or performed with the likes of Vince Gill, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale and Mary Gauthier.

ANGEL SNOW WEBAlso on the bill is Angel Show, who hails from Chickamauga in Georgia.

Noted for her subtle guitar playing and excellent lyrics, rising star Angel makes her Scottish debut and will be performing songs from her latest album, “Fortune Tellers”.

She has also written songs for no less a star than Alison Krauss.
