If Ry Cooder is a major fan of your work then a singer/songwriter must be doing something right.

Sam Outlaw from South California certainly is – and music fans in Glasgow will get the chance to hear him when he plays The Admiral on Thursday, April 14.

The former advertising professional entered the music world on two years ago and he’s hit the ground running with an outstanding debut release, “Angeleno”, his cosmopolitan west coast take on traditional country music that he has dubbed “SoCal country.”

Cooder was the guiding hand behind the album – it made it into The Guardian’s Top 10 country albums list for 2015 – and it’s full of moody yet timeless songs.

Sam Outlaw has attracted a lot of interest and great reviews in a relatively short time so it’s great he wants to come to Scotland to let us hear what he’s got.

“Angeleno is old fashioned… it revels in its style and simplicity, not giving a hootenanny for what’s on trend.” – No Depression.
