Rootsy rocker Fred Eaglesmith is heading to Glasgow early in 2016 for his first show in the city for three years.

The Canadian singer/songwriter, who clocks up around 180 gigs a year on the road, will play The Admiral Bar on March 19.

He delivers his dazzling lyrics in a distinctive gravel voice, often wearing outlandish headgear: but he never fails to thrill his fans, known everywhere as “Fredheads”.

Bigger name stars such as Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Dar Williams and The Cowboy Junkies are among those who have recorded covers of his meaningful and well-crafted songs over the years.

“There is never a dull moment at a Fred Eaglesmith show,” said Kevin Morris, Fallen Angels Club director.

“Terrific songs and between songs chat make him a terrific performer.”

The wonderful Richmond Fontaine are heading to Glasgow in April 2016 a month after their 10th album, You Can’t Go Back if There’s Nothing To Back To” is released.

They will play the Art School on Wednesday, April 27 – and it will be the first time since 2012 that this hugely talented, highly literate and widely acclaimed bunch of musicians will have hit the road as a whole band as other projects have been undertaken in that time.

And the word is that once again, Willy Vlautin and his mates have produced a wealth of beautifully executed story songs on the new album, the likes of which are rarely matched in today’s musical landscape.

Their songs are raw, thoughtful and played with inspiration and devotion, as anyone who has listened to any of their previous albums or seen them live will testify.

A major draw in the land of Americana and beyond, we are delighted they can come to Glasgow again.

“…one of their genre’s premier attractions.” BBC Music online.

Fernando ’s new album ‘Leave The Radio On’ is 3 years in the making, a virtual who’s who of Portland Oregon’s finest musicians, including Peter Buck (on 8 tracks) and Scott McCaughey of REM, Sarabeth Tucek as well as members of M.Ward, Elliott Smith, Richmond Fontaine/The Delines bands.

Willy Vlautin of Richmond Fontaine says “Pacific Northwest legend, Fernando has made the best record of his life. One of my all time favorite singer-songwriters”

Kris Drever celebrates his first decade as an acclaimed solo artist and songwriter with a new studio album and tour “If Wishes Were Horses” released by Reveal Records on March 28th 2016. The album is his first for six years (during which time his band Lau have established themselves as the most widely acclaimed and musically progressive trio in British folk music).

Drever’s voice and guitar forms part of the backbone of today’s contemporary roots scene. Hugely admired as a solo artist, collaborator, and member of folk superstars Lau, he is a phenomenal and prolific artist. Drever has already played alongside Jack Bruce, Bela Fleck, Tinariwen, Joan As Police Woman, Jerry Douglas, Danny Thompson, Tim O’Brien, Sarah Jarosz, Shawn Colvin, Phil Cunningham, Rosanne Cash, Roddy Woomble, Eddi Reader, Adem, Kate Rusby, Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart and many more.

As well as material from IF Wishes Were Horses Kris will revist older songs from across his catalogue playing many live for the first time. Fans can get involved by posting on his Facebook old songs they would like to hear and Kris will pick from those selections.

With his own take on folk melded seamlessly to Americana, Adam Holmes has lit up the Scottish music scene with his band, The Embers in recent years.

The 25-year-old from Edinburgh, with a new album due to be released next year, has been lined up to appear at the CCA in Glasgow on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

His 2013 debut album, Heirs and Graces, was both melodic and striking with an assured touch that belied his youthfulness as a singer/songwriter.

It won the former fiddler many glowing reviews as well as a nomination in the Scottish Album of the Year awards. His live shows – he appeared in 2015 at the Tonder Festival alongside Richard Thompson and John Prine, for example – also always prove impressive.

“Adam has great songs to share with his fine band so a night in his company is always something to relish,” said Kevin Morris of The Fallen Angels Club.

“…his lilting bass vocal and blend of Scottish tradition and Americana proved frequently entrancing.” – The Scotsman

Thea Gilmore, who is racking up the good reviews and airplay for her latest album, The Counterweight, is bringing her distinct singer/songwriting brilliance to Glasgow again in September.

She will play Saint Luke’s on Wednesday, September 13, raiding big style her recording catalogue that’s crammed with emotional and forceful songs.

Thea says her latest release is about truth and passion, and that it was made “with fire and love”. Her shows are heartfelt affairs but not short on good humour, either.

Thea is a welcome visitor to Glasgow where she has turned in first-class performances time and again.

“Live, she’s a musician of searing talent.” – The Telegraph.

The gorgeous range of songs from Blue Rose Code will be filling Saint Luke’s in Glasgow with grace and no little passion on Thursday, September 21.

Blue Rose Code, through Ross Wilson’s masterful and tasteful collection of songs, have won praise the length and breadth of the country in whatever format the group gathers.

The overall excellence of the musicians he picks to play onstage with him ensure his wonderfully, warm and varied material is delivered intimately, thrillingly and joyously. No wonder ‘sold out’ signs feature at a lot at his gigs.

We have a great band performing unforgettable songs in a superb setting so this is shaping up to be a night to remember.
BRC played Glasgow Americana’s 10th Anniversary celebration last year to a sold out room at St Andrew’s In The Square, so best to buy in advance for this show.

The Orphan Brigade, featuring Neilson Hubbard, Ben Glover and Joshua Britt, are heading to Glasgow for a show in February, 2018.

They will appear at The Admiral on February 7 showcasing their current ambitious release, Heart Of the Cave, which was recorded and inspired by the Italian town of Osimo and the 2,500-year-old caves beneath its streets.

It’s an intriguing, artistic project that involved the talents of up to 14 musicians who carefully and creatively tapped into the stories hidden within the cave walls.

Irishman, Ben Glover plus Neilson Hubbard and Joshua Britt from the USA, will share tracks from the adventurous album, the second the Brigade has released. The first was 2015’s award-winning, Soundtrack To A Ghost Story.

“These are top-class musicians with music they have worked on together from an idea that is wholly original – so this will be an interesting show.

“With this album, the Orphan Brigade have (also) taken flight – and in the most magical way possible” – 9/10 americana-uk

The Secret Sisters are back in business and out on the road – and that includes a stopover in Glasgow in March 2018.

Laura and Lydia Rogers play Cottiers in Glasgow on March 30.

The duo from Muscle Shoals, Alabama went from touring with Bob Dylan and Paul Simon to losing their label, filing for bankruptcy and taking up housecleaning jobs to keep going.

But they have fought back as their striking third album, You Don’t Own Me Anymore produced by Brandi Carlile, clearly shows. Carlile says: “I think we’re finally seeing who the Secret Sisters are.”

It’s great that their stunning voices, gorgeous harmonies and steely songs with a vintage sound have not been silenced – and now the duo is moving on in determined style.

We are so pleased The Secret Sisters can come here as they have songs with such style and passion that will sound great in a live setting.
