The heartwarming and flawless folk, soul and country sounds of Blue Rose Code are returning to Glasgow with a December 3 date at The Drygate Brewery.

Blue Rose Code (Ross Wilson of Edinburgh, that is) jokes he’s a cross-over artist without being sure where he’s crossed over to: but that doesn’t matter.

With Celtic nuances and an impressive songbook, Ross evokes John Martyn, Van Morrison and Ray la Montagne in his elegant vocals, which are buoyed by uplifting musicianship.

His Ballads of Peckham Rye is a gem of a collection of songs and was nominated in this year’s Scottish Album of The Year Awards.

Work is currently under way on his latest release, Three’s Up and tracks sneaked out of the studios so far suggest it will be a brilliant follow-up to Ballads.

“Blue Rose Code are no strangers to sold-out gigs given the sheer quality of the music and growing fan base,” said Kevin Morris, of the Fallen Angels Club.

“I am so pleased they can fit in this date in a busy touring and recording schedule.”

The gorgeous range of songs from Blue Rose Code will be filling Saint Luke’s in Glasgow with grace and no little passion on Thursday, September 21.

Blue Rose Code, through Ross Wilson’s masterful and tasteful collection of songs, have won praise the length and breadth of the country in whatever format the group gathers.

The overall excellence of the musicians he picks to play onstage with him ensure his wonderfully, warm and varied material is delivered intimately, thrillingly and joyously. No wonder ‘sold out’ signs feature at a lot at his gigs.

We have a great band performing unforgettable songs in a superb setting so this is shaping up to be a night to remember.
BRC played Glasgow Americana’s 10th Anniversary celebration last year to a sold out room at St Andrew’s In The Square, so best to buy in advance for this show.

“…an elegance and sincerity with an arresting turn of phrase, and melodies that stick in the mind.” Celtic Music Radio.
