ROBBIE FULKS, who played the first ever Glasgow Americana Festival, will gig at The Admiral Bar, in Glasgow on Friday, August 8.

The Chicago-based singer/songwriter has a large following who revel in his country-based music that has many twists and turns. Conventional is not a word associated with Robbie.

Last year’s release, “Gone Away Backwards”, came No 10 in Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 10 country album of 2013.

It is mostly acoustic and leans heavily on a blue-grass, old-time vibe though live, Fulks can veer into all sorts of territory, including pop if his keen and imaginative mind decides that’s needed.

One thing is certain: there’s never a dull moment at a Robbie Fulks’ show.

“….what really sets him apart is his songwriting, which is one part artful country, one part artful send   up of country and one part a little of everything else.” – The New York Times.
